Living in Sonoma County makes me a truly lucky individual. Especially when it comes to seasonal organic produce. I could not be luckier, nor happier. December 2011, I became a first-time mama. Being a food lover, I wanted to make sure my lil’ man has a healthy start with a diet that takes advantage of all the fresh local organic foods Sonoma County has to offer.
My favorite implements, Vita Mix Mixer pulverizes to a molecular level (good for seeds), I know–serious stuff, and then the steamer and food processor Beaba Babycook (at its hay-day I was working this machine 3 times a day):
I bought a ton of books, cause that is what I do, but these were the most helpful for me:
And for online cooking inspiration, I loooove Weelicious! Katherine, Kenya and Chloe provide limitless ideas in the kitchen.
My journey begins with the early months…
Everyone told my husband and I that there was “no instruction manual” when you leave the hospital with your new baby. Yeah, no kidding! After enduring the first few weeks of ‘basic non-training’ we began to think we had things pretty much wired. Ooops! Finding his perfect bio-rhythm (for lack of a better word) continues to elude us to this day- but it doesn’t stop us from trying to strike that nebulous thing we call “balance”. And of course, as soon as they flash you that brilliant smile, you tend to forget about the fact that you haven’t slept in weeks. Hopefully by sharing some of my trials and tribulations, I might shake out a few good techniques so that others may prosper. Understanding of course, that my efforts may be in vein? After all, if it were a science; wouldn’t there be an ‘instruction manual’?
Now for the second stage, toddler-dom, gulp.
Bring it on! (recipes to follow)

You have the cutest child I’ve ever seen!
The best thing you can do as a parent is what you are doing. You seem to have a great handle on it. The best thing is to be the best parents you can be and remember you can never love your child too much……..
